Replace member(s), then rename the band
14. Feb 2012 at 21:06

The thread about Porcupine Tree changing their name if they lost Steven reminded of this game, which I saw on another forum and was quite fun:

Replace one or more members of a well-known band, then change the band name to suit!

Example:
Styx: Replace singer Dennis de Young with Mick Jagger
-> Styx and Stones

Mikael Akerfeldt leaves Opeth and is replaced by a dead German composer in order to create a death metal version of Carmina Burana
-> Opeth Orff

Take A Perfect Circle and replace Billy Howardel with Adam Jones, Josh Freese with Danny Carey, Matt McJunkins with Justin Chancellor, and ditch the rhythm guitarist, all while making them play better music, and you have: Tool! Grin

But seriously, I will work with A Perfect Circle since that's an easy one.

Take MJK and replace him with Robert Plant, and you have a sort of oxymoron if you will: A Perfect Zeppelin! Wink

OK, we'll go back in time with this one. In 1982, Freddy Mercury becomes the vocalist for King Crimson and you get Queen Crimson.

Replace David Gilmour with Peter Green and you get - of course - Green Floyd.

On the other hand, when you put out John McVie of Fleetwood Mac, and put in Paul McCartney, you'll get Fleetwood Macca.  Grin
