2012: The Story So Far
30. Jan 2012 at 19:48

So, with 8.197% of 2012 gone already, it must be time for a thread keeping track of all the new releases.

First 2012 release purchase for me has been Area 52 by Rodrigo y Gabriela, on vinyl.

What have been everyone's January highlights?

This: http://www.varesesarabande.com/servlet/the-980/Bernard-Herrmann-At-20th/Detail , tehnically it shipped in 2011, but it arrived in 2012 for most people.

Nurse with wound and Graham Bowers' "Rupture" and The Caretake's "Patience After Sebald" are also very good early year releases.

I have not purchased any album in 2012 so far, but I listen to the new Mark Lanegan album "Blues Funeral" right now (it's his first since the 2004 "Bubblegum" album and, again, has musicians/friends like Greg Dulli, Josh Homme, Chris Goss, and Alain Johannes on it). Streams here in its entirety (via Antiquiet).

So far, I like it.

I'm on the verge of posting my initial 2012 Index on rym. Been a pretty solid start to the year as I can say other than probably 2 releases, I plan to go back to everything else. Plus there's new stuff being releaed and surfacing every day/week. Chrome Canyon's debut EP just today, and Jazzkamikaze in a couple of days.

Only listened to Alcest - Les voyages de l'âme of stuff that was released in 2012. Was ok I guess. Didn't really get into it. Mostly because of the foreign vocals.

New Crosses EP for sure! Also Errors streamed on Drowned in Sound which I'll definitely check out. Still need to hear Alcest's new release too.
