5 ROADRUNNER UK ARTISTS UP FOR GRAMMY AWARDS!!

Posted on December 2, 2010

Last night, across the pond, the Grammy nominations were announced in full and Roadrunner UK are stoked to report that no less than 5 of our artists are up for awards!!

Best Metal Performance saw nominations for KoЯn for 'Let The Guilt Go', Lamb Of God for 'In Your Words' and Megadeth for 'Sudden Death'.

Next up  Kenny Wayne Shepherd gained a nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album Vocal or Instrumental and last, but by no means least, Porcupine Tree's 'The Incident' is nominated for Best Surround Sound Album.

so they can win an award for the sound but not the music hehe - io think its fair if they won it, even though the surround version was released sept 2009 which is weird.

I think it's the DVDA released in march 2010 that is nominated.
By the way, great news!

May I see a link between all these Roadrunner Records nominations and the fact that Warner Music Group now own RR?

Surprised?  Grin Where I live, corruption is advised as basic ingredient in babies' milk. I just thought of pointing the fact out, in case no one else did.

Thats cool, but the Grammys are a joke anyways so it doesn't really matter if they win or lose.  Grin

Although its always nice to gain some recognition, I guess!

OOoooooo what an honor... Best surround sound mix. Good to see that the music industry is starting to take PT seriously.

Who won the best wax cylinder record category?  Huh
I guess SW is carving himself a name in the industry as he does a good job with remastering and surround sound stuff, but I rather see PT winning a Grammy for best album or best rock band.

I really don't have any faith in the music industry, so the fact that they're at LEAST nominated for Best Surround Album isn't to bad to me. I would also love to see them nominated for album of the year, but I fear that on this blank planet, it is just not likely.  undecided

They won't win.  They're up against two orchestras, and the greyhairs will vote for them instead.  I'm not rooting against them, but ever since I watched Jethro Tull win over Metallica for Heavy Metal, I'm not too confident that the voters are attached to reality.

Grammys are all BS. I'm surprised they gave PT recognition for a 2nd time in this category (1st being with FOABP). Even if they win it, it's hard to feel good about it sense I have no belief or respect for what the Grammys have become and are today.

The Grammys are a joke, but nevertheless, PT is getting PR for it.

this was posted on PT's Twitter and is a great read about the grammys. if i had said these things to my wife she'd probably think i was just being negative again and spouting off another conspiracy theory  Roll Eyes. it's reassuring to read there are people in this forum that feel the same about things of this nature as well as the person in this interview...

"Rome is burning and Nero is rapping about it through Auto-Tune."

Bears quoting.

For all the wank that the Grammys (and their ilk) are, Britten's Orchestra looks like a decent release. Peter Grimes' Sea Interludes would rock in surround.
