Time?
19. Mar 2009 at 16:56

As I type this the time is 16.54.  How come I'm seeing postings with 17.45 as the time?  Clocks move forward in the UK next Sunday.

The server hosting the forum seems to think daylight savings is in effect. We have made adjustments to compensate...

Just noticed that, despite it being 11.34pm GMT, the message at the top of my screen reads "Good Morning anortherncod"...

I just posted a message about the forum time actually now being an hour slow, but the post seems to have disappeared.

I have thought for many years that things would be so much easier if the whole world functioned on a 24-hour clock set to GMT. Keep the terms "morning", "afternoon" etc. to refer to local times of day by the sun, but use GMT for all official times. The aviation and meteorology professions already do this, indeed I shudder to think what might happen if they didn't.

The post was deleted as you started a new thread when there was already a thread about this issue.

OK, the server that the forum is hosted on is in the USA. It appears that daylight savings started a few week earlier there than in other places, Europe for example. This has caused a mismatch with the times for some people, dependent upon where you live.

This issue will be solved when the rest of the world changes to daylight savings.

Which is when?  UK clocks went forward this morning, and as I type this it is 10.32, with the PTF clock showing 9.32
